In the spring of 2023, Ænergy submitted an application for the establishment of a solar park on the fields between Smidstrup and Vejby north of Vrå in Hjørring Municipality.
After the initial screening, the project has been selected in two stages for further work by committee and city council, which is why the development of the project is still moving forward - i.a. through the inclusion of local associations and initiatives.
Furthermore, after the initial citizens' meeting in autumn 2023, a follow-up group consisting of some of the nearest neighbors was set up.
The dialogue with the group has so far resulted in the project area changing shape and size already at an early stage.
Concretely, the collaboration has meant that the westernmost border of the project area has been pushed to the east to accommodate the citizens of Vejby, while the total area has grown by approx. 80 hectares to the west and southwest.
In the spring of 2024, the project has been selected for further development by the municipal council in Hjørring Municipality, which is why the good and constructive dialogue with the immediate vicinity will of course continue.
