Jysk Energi has established a solar park in Høvsøre, where half of the ownership has been sold to local citizens. The park covers an area of 71 ha. and has an output of 40 MWp. It will generate an annual production of approx. 50,000,000 kWh.
Jysk Energi has bought the land and is now leasing it to the company Solcellepark Høvsøre I/S. Furthermore, the company has developed the project from scratch, including applications, approvals and establishment. The project was initiated in January 2020 and commissioned in December 2022.
Local co-ownership
Over 700 local citizens have invested in the project for a total of 110 million.
The project is the first solar cell project in Denmark that follows the principles of the Right to Purchase scheme known from wind turbine projects. Here, citizens of Lemvig municipality had the opportunity to become co-owners. Jysk Energi sold 50% of the solar park to cooperative owners in Lemvig municipality at cost price. Every adult in Lemvig Municipality was given the opportunity to invest from DKK 4,400 and up to DKK 638,000. They therefore gained direct ownership in Denmark's green transition.
